Pharmacist Begüm Özdengülsün graduated with honors from Yeditepe University Faculty of Pharmacy in 2018. She then completed her Master's degree in Business Administration with honors at the same university. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Pharmacology at Yeditepe University. After serving as a student assistant at the university, she completed internships in Product Development at ARGEFAR, Clinical Pharmacy at FSM EAH, and Regulatory Affairs at Novartis. She then began working part-time in the Medical Department at Pfizer. After serving as a Medical Project Manager in Oncology at Pfizer, she took on the role of Regional Medical Director (MSL) in Oncology and Hematology. She continued her career at Pfizer as a Medical Director in Internal Medicine Specialties.
She is now working as a Senior Medical Field Manager in Cardiology. She is actively involved in various agile teams at Pfizer. In her free time, she enjoys exercising and traveling.
Can you tell us about your experience at Yeditepe University?
Yeditepe University holds a special place for me. To understand why, looking at the academic background in my CV should be sufficient 😊.
The facilities of our campus, the innovative approaches provided by my faculty, and the well-equipped academic staff made my time at Yeditepe very enjoyable and developmental.
What are the differences and advantages of being a Yeditepe graduate in your career?
I believe being a Yeditepe graduate brings many distinct advantages, especially in the pharmaceutical industry. The fact that our education was in English, the presence of active student clubs, and the connections that most of our professors have in various sectors provided us with valuable guidance. These are the advantages of being a Yeditepe graduate.
What do you think was a significant turning point in your career?
Starting to work part-time at Pfizer Medical during my final year of university in 2017 was a significant turning point in my career.
What advice would you give to students and recent graduates regarding their career journeys?
Internships in areas of interest related to their field will help them make the best decisions for themselves. I would advise them to take steps while envisioning where they want to see themselves in the future. Additionally, considering that individuals with academic advancements will stand out in the future of the industry, it is important to act with this in mind.
What message would you like to share with our bulletin readers on the 100th anniversary of our Republic?
You are the ones who will advance along the path laid by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and lead us to a brighter future adorned with the principles of the Republic! May your path always be bright.
