Evening Walk: Casa Botter | Dreams, Truths trip

We discover Casa Botter at night! We are visiting the first exhibition of the space, Dreams, Truths, accompanied by its curator, Melike Bayık!

Casa Botter Apartment II. It was built by the famous architect of the time, Raimondo D'Aronco, for the tailor of the palace, Jean Botter, at the request of Abdülhamit. As the first Art Nouveau style building of Istanbul, we will also visit the library and offices of the building, which is the pearl of Istiklal. We are waiting for you to see the first exhibition and building opened after the sensitive restoration of the Casa Botter Art and Design Center by İBB Culture and İBB Heritage.

About Melike Bayik:

Melike Bayik (1991), Antalya. He has been working as a Research Assistant in the same program since 2017, together with the education he received at Yeditepe University, Art and Culture Management Program. He is continuing his doctoral thesis at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Department of Art History, Western Art and Contemporary Art Program, which he entered in 2019.

He has worked as a curator, freelance writer and art consultant at various institutions. He has held exhibitions as a curator in areas such as Eldem Art Space, Adas.ist and Krank Art Gallery. He has undertaken the curatorship of the ongoing "Dreams, Truths" exhibition in Casa Botter Apartment, which he prepared in cooperation with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality. He has been working as Art Consultant and Collection Manager of Hitay Foundation and Hitay Collection since 2020. He has been a member of AICA Türkiye since 2019. In 2023, he is a member of Baksı Museum Board of Directors and Hisar Schools Board of Directors. He has done artist texts, exhibition evaluations and artist interviews for print and digital platforms such as books, catalogues, magazines and newspapers. Continuing her curatorial exhibitions, research projects and conceptual writings in various institutions, fields and media, Melike Bayık lives and works in Istanbul.
