From Craft to Music: A Day in the Workshops of Istanbul

In this gathering held at the workshop of classical kemenche maker Murat Yerden, you are invited to witness up close the birth of a handmade musical instrument.

In this space where the Istanbul kemenche is shaped with delicate craftsmanship, you will have the chance to observe every stage of the production process, engage in conversations about craftsmanship and handmade artistry, and direct any questions you may have to the master himself.Afterward, we will visit İsmail Hakkı Fencioğlu’s oud workshop.At the end of the event, we will listen together to the unique sound of this exquisite instrument with a short performance by Furkan Bilgin, the kemenche performer of the band Yeni Türkü, in the warm atmosphere of the workshop.
