From Craftsmanship to Music: A Workshop Day in Istanbul

You are invited to witness the birth of a handmade musical instrument up close at this gathering, which will take place in the workshop of classical kemenche maker Murat Yerden. In this space where the Istanbul kemenche is delicately shaped, you can observe every stage of the production process firsthand, chat about craftsmanship and manual labor, and ask the master any questions you may have. Afterwards, we will visit İsmail Hakkı Fencioğlu's oud workshop. At the end of the event, we will listen to a short performance by Furkan Bilgin, the kemenche player of the Yeni Türkü group, and enjoy the sound of this unique instrument together in the warm atmosphere of the workshop.
