Far More Than a Kitchen: A Day with Refika and her Team at the Simotas Building
Are you ready to discover that a kitchen is more than just a place to cook?
You are cordially invited to a special day at Refika’s Kitchen, where we will experience together how a recipe comes to life—not just on the stove, but through ideas, teamwork, storytelling, and production.
Our journey begins in front of the Simotas Building, built in 1923 by the Greek architect Simotas and standing as old as our Republic. As we climb through the floors of this historic building, we won't just see a space; we will discover the entire creative world behind Refika’s Kitchen.
During this experience:
•Production Team: Will share the journey of a video idea from the first shot to the final broadcast.
•Communication & Social Media Team: Will explain how content is born and how it grows.
•The Library: We will explore our extensive resources on food culture.
•Refika’s Room: We will encounter antique objects and special artifacts related to culinary history and their unique stories.
•Director Bahar Kitapcı’s Room: We will immerse ourselves in the rich world of props (our "trousseau") and see how our visual world is crafted.
Next, we will reach the heart of the action: the kitchen where the filming takes place—our workshop.
•We will get to know the kitchen while sipping on wisteria sherbet.
•From our terrace, we will discuss the multicultural fabric of Kuzguncuk, its historic garden (bostan), and its story as an ancient Bosphorus village.
Then, we step into the kitchen together...
• We will prepare and taste "Mıhlanmış Et" (Nailed Meat), a dish that brings tradition and modernity together with Refika’s unique touch.
• Through the book "Heritage: Turkish Culinary Techniques," we will explore the "mathematics of the meatball" and its history.
• Kadınbudu meatballs and accompanying delicacies will be served.
We will conclude our event at the Refika’dan Store.
