“What really frightens me is that the inspector might arrive unannounced. It’s as if that door might suddenly swing open and…”

The Inspector, one of Nikolai Gogol’s most famous works, is a sharp satire set in a small town. When news spreads that an inspector is coming to town in secret, the panicked officials mistake an ordinary clerk for the inspector and try to curry favor with him. This situational comedy, built around corrupt bureaucracy and self-serving relationships, lays bare the weaknesses of human nature. With Gogol’s sharp language and ironic narrative, *The Inspector* is not merely a critique of its time but also serves as a universal social mirror that remains relevant to this day.

As part of the 2025-2026 academic production season, The Inspector, brought back to the stage by the Yeditepe University Players, is ready to meet its audience!
